Get Rid of Your Baggage!
If you suffer from prominent dark circles, a hollow sunken look under the eyes, the appearance of being constantly tired or fatigued, or if you feel your eyes are carrying excess baggage underneath, then tear trough filler may be exactly what you need.
What Is a Tear Trough Filler?
The tear trough is the lower area under the eye, just before the cheek. The dark circles can appear in this area for a number of reasons, including ageing, allergies and even as a result of a sleepless night. A tear trough filler can ensure that people can’t tell a story from looking solely at the areas around your eyes.
With your eyes being the focal point of your face, you will want them to be as healthy and rejuvenated as possible so that you look your best. Thanks to tear trough fillers, dark circles under the eyes are quickly becoming a thing of the past. This treatment can be hugely transformational to the way that someone looks, brightening the "under-eye" area. The treatment is hugely popular and can have incredible results.
How Do Tear Trough Fillers Work?
The filler injects hyaluronic acid into the tear trough under your eye and adds volume, whilst also helping to reduce the darkness. When injected into the skin, the tear trough filler smooths out any lines and wrinkles, instantly adding volume and shape where required. The results can be deemed to be fantastic, helping to add youth, health and colour back under your eyes and onto your face.
What To Expect From Tear Trough Fillers?
After the anaesthesia has kicked in for 15 minutes, the treatment is relatively painless. The filler is injected into the skin in a series of small bursts using a fine needle. For 3-7 days after the treatment, you may see bruising and lumps begin to appear in the treated area. Typically, these side effects will only last a few days and can be easily covered up with makeup if required.
Are There Any Risks with Tear Trough Fillers?
Hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring substance within the body, which means that forming an adverse reaction to the filler is extremely rare. However, with any invasive or non-invasive treatment, there are always risks and tear trough fillers are no exception. Due to tear trough fillers being injections, the most common side effect is bleeding of the skin once the needle has been inserted and there is also the risk of swelling or bruising which are all only temporary.
However, there are some risks, which although are uncommon, should be considered prior to treatment. These include:
- Swelling and bruising
- Asymmetry under the eyes
- Headaches and migraines
- Skin staining
- Puffiness due to over-correction
- Hyper-pigmentation post-inflammation
- Blindness (this is a rare side effect)
Are Tear Trough Fillers Suitable For Everyone?
Unfortunately, tear trough fillers are not suitable for everyone, especially those who have a known allergy to the product or have an infection where the injection is set to be inserted. The Doctor will assess whether you are suitable for this treatment in a consultation.
Consultations are complimentary with no obligation to book an appointment. If you would like to arrange this please call reception.
